Wow! The folks from Neighborhood Restaurant Group (NRG) really do know how to do a beer festival. Snallygaster boasts a craft beer tasting list of 274 amazing brews from around the globe to sample. Organized into styles and 10 different beasties (e.g., Medusa, Kraken, Gargoyle, etc.), the “epic day of inimitable imbibery” benefits Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food and Agriculture (yes, an admitted favorite nonprofit of the writer).
That said, if you want to learn about beer, this is the festival to attend. From double IPAs to delightful Pumpkin Ales and everything in between, you can try any type of brew you can imagine. Every selection is hand-picked by by NRG’s Beer Director, Greg Engert.
Despite the light drizzle and then the steady downpour it was a great time. Some of our favorites?
- Saucony Creek’s Cap’t Pumpkin’s Maple Mistress
- Weissenoher’s Monk’s Fest
- Æppeltreow’s Sparrow Spiced Cider
- District Chophouse’s IPA
- Blue Mountain’s Spooky
The crew also wants to give a huge shout out to Bernie Murphy, Oyster Slanger, Rappahanock Oyster Company for those unbelievably sweet and juice oysters and GBD for their Funfetti donut which, surprisingly, went very well with the brews!
